About
LPCS's weather station is a Davis Instruments, Weather Monitor
II. It is located outside of the science room facing south. The
weather station was started on October 29, 2003. Accurate data
before this date is not available. Current rain totals are reflected
from the starting date.
Weather information is uploaded to the website every 10 minutes,
giving you up-to-date readings. Highs and lows for each data set
are reset at approximately 11:50 pm every day. Therefore, high
and low temperatures will be calculated for a 24-hour period from
11:50 pm to 11:49 pm of the following day.
Shortcomings
The Weather Monitor II seems to be very accurate, with a few
exceptions. On sunny days, morning temperatures may seem high.
Wind coming from the north is somewhat blocked by the building.
Snow totals are not calculated by the weather station and therefore
will not accurately keep rainfall totals during the winter months.
Finally, power outages in the Speculator area (which never happen)
will affect the ability to accurately upload data.
